Joan Plowright – Retry

I finally decided to, le’ gasp, TRACE, Joan Plowright, since I couldn’t draw her properly freehand.

She’s beautiful, but has very unique features. I worked from a projector screen displaying where I saw the reference photo, and traced on the paper against a white wall.

It’s obviously not my best work. The hair was nothing but a chunky block, so I had to improvise.

I worked on her until I was too tired to do so, and I have not returned to finish her off since. Yes, she is unfinished, but I got further on her this time than the last attempt.

I do wish she was much more realistic, even photo realistic, but it is a hard feat to accomplish with a blurry reference.

All glory, praise, thanks, and all things be to God on the highest forever and ever in Jesus mighty and wonderful name, amen! God is able! Jesus loves you, and so do I.

Dear God,

Thank you for the gift of art, which we can use to glorify you even if it is imperfect. Help us to use our creativity and talents to create art that reflects your beauty and glory, and that proclaims the good news of Jesus Christ to the world.

We pray that our art, even in its imperfection, may be a beacon of hope and light in the darkness, and may draw others to you.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Scripture:

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
